How They Differ

Websim makes more than games. Its agent builds chatbots, image tools and small web apps as well, and projects can call AI while they run with no API key. Remixing is the heart of it: you can suggest changes back to the original, and the creator can merge them.

Remix is built only for games. Publishing puts a game in a feed on the web, in the phone apps and in Remix Desktop, with leaderboards, saves and achievements handled by the platform and an AI trailer for each game on paid plans.

Which to Pick

If you want to make things for free and like a community that remixes everything, try Websim. If you want to make games that people play on their phones and come back to, Remix is the better fit.

What Websim Does Better

  • A large community feed built around remixing: a remixer can suggest changes back and the creator can merge them.
  • Every project gets hosted multiplayer and a database with roles and permissions, with no backend to run.
  • Projects can call AI at runtime (language models, image generation, text-to-speech) with no API key.
  • You can build free by connecting your own ChatGPT account, which spends no Websim credits.
  • It makes more than games: chatbots, image tools and other small web apps.

Where Remix Falls Short

  • Building a new game with Remix AI needs a paid plan. Free accounts can plan a game, or build one with their own AI coding tools and publish it free.
  • Games are web games. There is no export to Steam, consoles or a standalone app store listing of your own.
  • Remix is not a full game engine. There is no scene editor or visual scripting, so large projects are easier in an engine.
  • The Remix audience is smaller than the biggest platforms such as Roblox.
