How They Differ

Sekai makes small things fast. You describe an idea on your phone and its AI makes a playable mini-app: a game, a quiz, a story or a music toy. A personalized feed shows it to players who might like it, anyone can remix it, and the best ones travel as short videos. Sekai's Symphony Sketchpad, a toy that turns doodles into music, found a large audience on TikTok, YouTube and Instagram.

Remix is built only for games. A game you make plays on the web, in the iOS and Android apps and in Remix Desktop, with live multiplayer rooms, leaderboards, saves and achievements handled by the platform, and creators can earn weekly pay for the games people play. Building a new game with Remix AI needs a paid plan.

Which to Pick

If you want to make quick, shareable mini-apps on your phone for free, Sekai is an easy start. If you want to make a game people come back to and play live with friends, and that can earn you money, Remix is the better fit.

What Sekai Does Better

  • It is free: the app has no paid plan or in-app purchase listed on the App Store.
  • A personalized feed shows a new creation to players whose interests fit it, with no followers needed.
  • Every creation can be remixed, and remixes of remixes carry an idea to new players.
  • It makes more than games: quizzes, stories, memes and music toys too.
  • Creations travel as short videos; Sekai counts more than 82 million views for one music toy’s clips.

Where Remix Falls Short

  • Building a new game with Remix AI needs a paid plan. Free accounts can plan a game, or build one with their own AI coding tools and publish it free.
  • Games are web games. There is no export to Steam, consoles or a standalone app store listing of your own.
  • Remix is not a full game engine. There is no scene editor or visual scripting, so large projects are easier in an engine.
  • The Remix audience is smaller than the biggest platforms such as Roblox.
