Remix vs Bitmagic

Bitmagic is a kit your own coding agent uses to build 3D browser games that you own. Remix works with your own coding agent too, through Remix Desktop, and adds a no-code path in the browser and phone apps, plus a feed of players.

Facts checked

The Short Answer

Pick Remix If You…

  • want to turn an idea into a game people can play on their phones today
  • want players, not just a file, and like the idea of a feed that shows your game to them
  • want multiplayer, leaderboards and saves without running a server

Pick Bitmagic If You…

  • already use Claude Code, Codex or Cursor and want to make 3D browser games
  • want 3D multiplayer games without writing or hosting netcode
  • want to own the source and ship the game somewhere else later

How They Differ

Bitmagic changed in August 2026. It is now a game kit for coding agents: your agent installs a 3D engine into your project, generates characters, vehicles and levels, playtests in a real browser, and publishes to bitmagic.ai. The code is yours.

Remix overlaps more than you might think, because Remix Desktop also runs Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or OpenCode. The difference is what sits around it. Remix also builds from a chat with no terminal, plays on the web and in iOS and Android apps, and puts each game in a feed.

Which to Pick

If you are a developer who wants a 3D engine you can read, and the freedom to ship the game anywhere, Bitmagic fits. If you want the fastest path from idea to a game people play on their phones, Remix does.

What Bitmagic Does Better

  • A real 3D engine (physics, characters, vehicles, cameras, netcode) lands in your project as TypeScript you can read and edit.
  • Published games get hosted multiplayer, leaderboards, saves and talking AI characters with no backend of your own.
  • Generates characters, animation, props, vehicles, skyboxes, sound and whole levels into the running game.
  • An automated playtest runs the game in a real browser and hands errors back to your agent.
  • You own the code and may sell it or ship it to Steam, itch.io or your own hosting.

Where Remix Falls Short

  • Building a new game with Remix AI needs a paid plan. Free accounts can plan a game, or build one with their own AI coding tools and publish it free.
  • Games are web games. There is no export to Steam, consoles or a standalone app store listing of your own.
  • Remix is not a full game engine. There is no scene editor or visual scripting, so large projects are easier in an engine.
  • The Remix audience is smaller than the biggest platforms such as Roblox.

Questions

Do I need a coding agent?
For Bitmagic, yes. It runs through Claude Code, Codex or Cursor. Remix works either way, by chatting with Remix AI or through your own coding agent in Remix Desktop.
Who owns the code?
Bitmagic says your game is plain TypeScript in your own repository, which you may sell and ship anywhere. Every paid Remix plan can export a game, but leaderboards, saves and rooms need Remix.
Is Bitmagic free?
Playing on bitmagic.ai is free. Every creation command needs a Bitmagic Pro subscription.
