The Missing Bitcoin, our free scavenger hunt across connected 3D worlds, is now playable on itch.io. Find hidden coins, solve puzzles, and explore worlds built by the Remix team with community creators. There are 60 coins to discover and up to US$169,500 in total prizes, including a conditional referral bonus. No purchase is necessary, and paid features give no advantage.

Why we brought the hunt to itch.io

We want someone who has never used Remix to be able to see a world, try it, and decide whether they want to explore more. A playable page gives them that chance. The itch.io listing brings the game, screenshots, story, and prize details together in a place where people already look for independent games.

The hunt also gives creators a way to show their work through play. A player sees a portal, steps through it, and discovers another place someone built. A hidden coin gives them a reason to look at the corners they might otherwise pass by. The room, the climb, and the puzzle each get a moment of attention.

That is what I want people to notice about this event: the worlds and the people who helped make them. The tools matter because they let more people build something others can play.

What is The Missing Bitcoin?

The Missing Bitcoin is the name of the adventure. In the story, the Keeper tries to protect his treasure with a spell. It goes wrong, scattering pieces across the worlds of Remix. You follow the clues and find the pieces.

The hunt mixes exploration with riddles, platforming, and other challenges. Some coins reward a careful search. Others ask you to solve something or make it through a difficult section. New worlds and challenges open during the event, so the live hunt page is the place to check what is available.

The opening world is an island beneath a wave that froze in place. The Keeper's Study takes you into a room of maps, keys, and clues. They give the hunt different moods and different reasons to stop and look around. You do not need to know every world before you start. Find your first coin and follow the next clue.

We introduced the event in our original scavenger hunt announcement. The itch.io release adds another place to discover and play it.

How to play on itch.io

Open the Remix Scavenger Hunt listing and choose Run scavenger hunt. The game runs in the page through a Remix-hosted player, so an internet connection is required. You can also open the game directly on Remix.

You may start as a guest. To qualify for prizes, you need a Remix account with a verified email address. Guest coins count once the account is signed in with a verified email before the contest ends, as described in the Official Rules. If your browser's privacy settings interrupt embedded sign-in or saved progress, use the link in the player to open the full event on Remix.

The prizes

The maximum total prize value is US$169,500. It is split across three parts:

• Champion: the value of 1 BTC, capped at US$100,000, awarded through skill under the Official Rules.
• Nine additional cash prizes: US$19,500 in total, awarded through a separate random drawing weighted by coins collected. These are not skill-based leaderboard placements.
• Referral bonus: the value of ½ BTC, capped at US$50,000, for an eligible person who referred the Champion. If there is no qualifying referrer, no referral bonus is awarded.

Champion and referral bonus winners can choose cash or Bitcoin, where lawful. The cash amount is the US-dollar value fixed at the valuation time specified in the rules. BTC values vary, and the headline maximum includes the conditional referral bonus. The nine additional prizes are paid in US dollars.

Age, location, verification, and other restrictions apply. The contest can end early under its rules and ends no later than November 30, 2026. Read the Official Rules for the exact end conditions, eligibility, prize calculations, and payment terms. Remix organizes the event; itch.io does not sponsor, endorse, or administer it.
