How to Make a Game on Your Phone

Most game ideas show up when you're nowhere near a computer. On the bus, in a queue, halfway through someone else's game. Until recently the idea had to wait for a laptop.

The Remix app for iPhone and Android lets you build the game right there. You describe it, an AI agent builds it in the cloud, and you play it on the phone in your hand.

Five Steps From Idea to Playable Game

1. Open Create a Game. Install Remix from the App Store or Google Play, then tap Create a Game. Long-pressing the app icon gets you there too.
2. Choose your path. Make a game from scratch, or a world your Remix character explores with friends.
3. Pick the orientation. Players hold the phone one way for the whole game: upright or sideways.
4. Arcade or Levels. Arcade is one run chasing one high score. Levels gives players numbered stages, stars and saved progress.
5. Describe it. Name a game it's like, an art style and one core mechanic. Type it, or tap the mic and say it. Then tap Start Planning.

Remix turns your idea into a game plan and starts building. Play each build as soon as it's ready, and ask for changes in plain words: harder levels, new art, a boss fight.

What Makes a Good Phone Prompt

A phone game lives or dies on its controls. Say how the player touches the screen:

A portrait game where you swipe to throw a frisbee to a dog running across a park. The dog speeds up after every catch. Three drops and the run ends. Bright cartoon colors.

Keep the first version small. One gesture, one goal, one way to lose. Add the shop, the skins and the second mode once the first ten seconds are fun.

Publish From the Same Phone

When the game is ready, publish it. It gets its own page on remix.gg, plays in the Remix apps on iPhone and Android, and gets an AI trailer recorded from real gameplay. Share the link and your friends can play it in a browser without installing anything.
